NY Comic Con: Cosplay Highlights (Day one)

Welp, we knew this was going to happen. Easily. Our first ever Cosplay reviews and highlights from Comic Con!

Here we give your our photos of the day as fellow fans and exhibitioners give us their best comic hero imitations and we sit here and either laugh derisively or look on enviously.

These were mostly full of awesome.

And here we roll!

This was the part of the Star Wars onslaught of cosplayers that we ran into, but Andrew and I totally thought this guy was MADE to be Obi-Wan. Shit now if only Ewan McGregor were actually at Comic Con…

Our first ever real Storm Trooper. I am incredibly impressed at how awesome and detailed their costumes are, even if they are at every single convention known to man. Whatever.

Pretty effin’ epic if we say so. These dudes were decked out in the uberawesome Jedi armor and it is fitting! Looks pretty damn good.

These girls… well, they definitely made all the beanbags feel like Jabba the Hutt. All gross and disgusting. I figured they were pretty cold too, hanging out in their almost skivvies like that. But still pretty awesome.

This was absolutely necessary for us, as journalists and news junkies. Who could give up a photo op with the man, J. Jonah Jameson?!

Oh man. There are no words for this one. I (Karen) wanted to jump on him and never let go. Rorschach is baller and this guy definitely keeps him every bit as intimidating and mystifying–minus the smell. Thankfully.

Who are you going to call? Not this dude. But he looks like one you could./photo by Karen Rivera

Awesome! Unfortunately this one ditzy girl behind me yelled as I was taking the photo, “he has my halloween costume!” and I wanted to smack her. But this is awesome. And he’s getting paid to walk around in this! Sweet!

Well, as I noticed at the end of this post that it is mostly male-centered cosplayers that we wrangled for our first set of photos, but… here’s to getting more tomorrow! I’ll try and see if I can get some fun unique Anime and Manga cosplayers for Comic Com Part Deux!

Stay tuned!

  1. Thanks! I’ve been hearing similar accolades since I started doing the Kenobi-Cosplay thing a few years ago. Appreciate the kind words.
