Reactions from Microsoft E3 ’09 Press Conference

•June 1, 2009 • Leave a Comment

This morning, I woke up not really expecting much from Microsoft this E3. Sure, they’d had a good year against their rival Sony, but Nintendo was dominating the market. It was pretty easy to tell that this conference was going to be less about their strategy against the PS3 and more so against the Wii.

Now that the dust has settled and the E3 Expo is now in full swing, it’s time for us here at MG to look at what Microsoft showed. Hit the break for what we liked, what we didn’t like and what we were blown away by. Continue reading ‘Reactions from Microsoft E3 ’09 Press Conference’

E3 ’09: Project Natal & “Milo” in Motion

•June 1, 2009 • Leave a Comment

I know there has been a lot of talk about Microsoft’s new Project Natal all over the web but to fully understand this, you have to see it in action.

Hit the jump for the footage of Peter Molyneux and the A.I. known as “Milo”, possibly one the craziest moment of the day so far. Sorry in advance for the low quality. Continue reading ‘E3 ’09: Project Natal & “Milo” in Motion’

Although the majority of live blogs out there on the internet will be writtern by people actually in attendance at E3, we here at MG unfortunately didn’t have the funds to get out to the show. That doesn’t mean that we can’t give you an up to the minute account of what we see over the live feed.

NY Comic Con: 1up’s Garnett Lee on NYCC and 2009

logo-1updotcomWhen news hit that 1up’s Garnett Lee was going to be in New York for Comic Con, I admittedly lost my cool for a bit. Not only was 1up and its now cancelled publication EGM my favorite outlet for gaming news, it was also home to some of my favorite podcasts of all time. Podcasts like 1up Yours and 1upFM were great weekly “radio” shows that really understood the gaming world, which makes sense, since EGM was nearing its 20th anniversary and they’d covered a couple generations worth of gaming technology.

I got to meet up with Lee at NYC’s Stitch Bar on West 37th Street. I likened the fan reaction to that of either him being the prettiest girl in the bar or the man of the hour. Every dude there was buying this guy drinks and being the humble guy that he is, Lee was taken aback by the outpouring of appreciation. Luckily, I got to “interview” him on the spot. Hit the jump for the audio and now one of my most prized pictures.

NY Comic Con: Mike and Jerry of Penny Arcade on a certain juicer’s origin

•February 8, 2009 • 1 Comment

When I saw the list of panels at Comic Con a couple months back, I squealed with joy at the thought of meeting Penny Arcade’s Jerry Holkins and Mike Krahulik. Having payed attention to the reactions of their previous panels at PAX and the like, I knew that I would be in for a treat.

The entire panel was a Q&A session, which is something I’m not all that used to when it comes to panel discussions because it’s usually 45 minutes of a group of people talking about something before the fans get their say in anything. That really made this whole panel the second best Comic Con experience for me (only beaten by the 18 minutes of Watchmen we got to watch. Be jealous).

We have video of the storied PA character, the Fruit Fucker and his origin after the jump.

NY Comic Con: Day two game impressions

picture-019Like the gluttons for punishment we are, we came back to New York for another fun filled day of falling down (while climbing) escalators to bring you more hands-on impressions from the convention floor.

We played a bunch more games this go around and overall, it was a good day. Check it out.
